Drywall repair and painting after the damage is dealt with
New drywall, tape, texture and paint after water, fire and mold damage, so the room stops looking like a job site.
Why a wet or smoked wall can't just be patched
Drywall is gypsum sandwiched between paper, and it behaves badly the moment it gets wet. After a burst pipe, a flooded bathroom or a fire hose, the face of a wall can look almost normal while the paper wicks water upward and the cavity behind it stays damp. Smoke does something similar. It settles into the board and the framing, and ordinary paint over it will bleed a yellow-brown stain back through within a season. Mold, meanwhile, finds the dark, wet back side of a panel long before anyone sees a spot on the front.
That is why a quick patch right after a loss so often fails. Fill the hole, tape it and paint over a wall that is still holding moisture, and the tape lifts, the seams ghost through the finish and the stain comes back. The same goes for a wall that was never cleaned of soot or never treated at the source of the mold. The paint job is only as good as what is behind it, and from Burbank to Long Beach to Irvine we see the same pattern: the cosmetic repair was done first and the cause was left for later.
So our drywall work comes after the water, fire and mold work, never instead of it. In a Google review, Farrah M. described the crew moving heaters into the affected rooms and working through the week “to constantly check the temperatures to be sure of dryness.” That is the order that matters. The wall gets rebuilt when it is dry, clean and sound, and not a day before.

Cut back, hang, tape, mud, texture, prime, paint
The repair starts with the cut. Damaged board comes out back to sound, dry framing, with straight, square edges, so the new panel lands on solid studs instead of hanging off a soft or crumbling edge. Insulation or anything else that took on contamination is dealt with while the wall is open, because that is the only moment it is easy to reach. Closing a wall over something that should have come out is how a problem gets buried.
New board is hung and fastened to the framing, then the seams get tape and several thin coats of joint compound, each one sanded smooth before the next goes on. Thin coats are the whole trick. One thick coat shrinks as it dries, cracks, and shows up as a ridge the first time afternoon sun rakes across the wall from a window. Corners, ceiling lines and the places where new board meets old get the most attention, since those are the edges the eye finds first.
Texture is where repairs give themselves away. Homes across Los Angeles County and Orange County carry everything from smooth walls to knockdown to orange peel, and a repair has to read as the same wall, not as a clean rectangle in the middle of one. After the texture is matched, the patch is primed so new and old surfaces take paint at the same rate, and the paint goes on in full coats carried to a corner or a natural break so a change in sheen never lands in the middle of a wall.
One crew from the dry-out to the last coat
On many losses the homeowner ends up managing three companies: one to dry the house, another to hang drywall, a third to paint, each waiting on the other and each pointing back when something is off. We are a restoration and construction company, so the crew that opened the wall is the same company that closes it. Benjamin B. put it simply in a Google review: “Danny was with us from start to finish and made sure everything was fixed and taken care of.”
It works the same way after fire and mold. On a smoke job, new board goes up after the soot and smoke damage restoration is finished. On a mold job, it goes up after the containment, the removal and the treatment of the source, so the growth does not return behind fresh paint. If the wall you are rebuilding was part of a kitchen or bathroom, we can carry on into the cabinets, tile and fixtures as well. Financing is available for the rebuild.
